Medical doctor, clinical psychologist and human rights defender. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Ege University and completed her MA and PhD studies in clinical psychology. From 1991 to 2010 she worked as a physician and the medical coordinator at HRFT Izmir. She continues to volunteer for HRFT as a consultant physician, psychotherapist and trainer. Her work focuses on the examination, evaluation and documentation of the physical and mental effects of torture, psychosocial effects of individual and collective trauma, man-made violence, prisoners’ health and the effects of isolation, and psychotherapeutic support for adults.
