Éric Fassin is a professor of sociology in the Political Science Department and co-chair of the Gender Studies Department at Paris 8 University. He is a founding member of the new Laboratoire d’études de genre et de sexualité – Research Center on Gender and Sexuality Studies (LEGS, CNRS / Paris 8 / Paris 10). He has taught as a Visiting Professor in many universities worldwide. His work on sexual democracy and racial democracy has converged with a broader reflection on what he has called in a 2012 book “precarious democracy”. His 2017 essay on “populism” has been translated into five languages – including Turkish. He is involved in several international networks that support academics at risk.
